1. Why user love Sleep Monitor?
With more than 10M downloads worldwide, Sleep Monitor focuses on helping global users track sleep phases and gain deep sleep insights. It guides users to better sleep with the help of the following core features:
- Sleep Tracking: Track how much time user spend in light sleep, deep sleep, rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and awake throughout the night and analyze data in charts
- Sleep Recording: Record sleep sounds like snoring, and sleep-talking and play them back when wake up
- Sleep Trends: Provide weekly/monthly/yearly sleep statistics
- Sleep Sounds: Help user fall asleep faster with soothing sounds and breath exercise
- Smart alarm: Help users wake up easier with a smart alarm
- More
By monitoring sleep patterns, users can see how much quality sleep they're getting. This kind of valuable information empowers them to take control of their sleep and optimize their sleep experience.
2. Benefit of tracking sleep with Sleep Monitor.
Sleep Monitor can tell you exactly when you fall asleep and when you wake up. It uses an accelerometer and microphone that can measure your movements and sounds while you sleep. A lot of movements could indicate potential sleep disorders or a lack of deep sleep. The recorded noises could indicate potential health risks like snoring, and sleep apnea. This is a valuable tool that helps you visualize and track your cycles and correct them if you feel it’s necessary. After tracking and correcting, your physical and mental well‑being may improve a lot. Sleep Monitor gives you more insights into your overall lifestyle and physical health. Invest in a sleep tracker to help you achieve the balanced and fulfilling life that you deserve, both personally and professionally.
3. How does Sleep Monitor works?
Sleep Monitor measures sleep quality and quantity with both the accelerometer and the microphone on your phone. Accelerometer is a small motion detector that measures how much movement you're making when sleeping. The microphone captures noise from the bedroom or your body while you sleep. Based on those data, an algorithm estimates your sleep time and quality. However, we recommend using the microphone, as your sleep analysis will then also capture snoring and other sounds that have an impact on your sleep quality. Furthermore, it means you don’t have to keep your phone in bed. You can place it conveniently on a nightstand table or similar, instead. Some sleep trackers also monitor other data, like heart and breathing rate. Different heart and respiration rates are associated with different sleep stages.
4. How does Sleep Monitor know I am in deep/light sleep?
Sleep Monitor uses both an accelerometer and microphone in your phone to measure sleep phases. The mobile phone has a built-in accelerometer sensor which is very sensitive. If you place your phone on your bed, it can make record your body movements through the night. Microphone can record environmental audio levels in your bedroom. It tracks how loud or quiet your sleep environment was. Body movements and noise levels are directly related to your sleep phase: In the light sleep phase, you tend to toss and turn, to make movements and environmental noises. In the deep sleep phase, your muscular movements are suppressed (otherwise you would be running or jumping around according to your dreams). Thus, in this phase, you will be quiet with almost no movements. This is in short how Sleep Monitor measures your sleep phases.
5. How does Sleep Monitor know I am in REM sleep?
REM is the acronym for Rapid Eye Movement, which, according to sleep researchers, is a sign of dreaming. There is no way to tell if there actually was REM at any particular moment, based solely on aggregate activity data. So REM in Sleep Monitor is just an estimation based on statistical analysis. When there is a long enough deep sleep period followed by a long enough light sleep period, we mark the first half of the light sleep as REM. People usually dream about three to five times every night, with a 5-15mins duration each time. But this varies on physical condition, mental condition, etc. We will keep updating the algorithms to make the REM detection more accurate.
6. How to use Sleep Monitor?
In order to make sure Sleep Monitor works properly and get more accurate results, we prepared the following checklist for you before tracking sleep:
- Sleep alone
- Keep the bedroom quiet, without loud noise
- Keep the charger connected or keep the phone battery level above 60%
- Grant Microphone and Notification permission for Sleep Monitor
- After clicking "Start-Sleep" button, keep the app running in the foreground, don't quit it in the background
7. How accurate is the Sleep Monitor app?
In order to verify our app’s accuracy, we have performed dozens of tests to compare our app against popular sleep tracker apps and smart hardware. Results showed that our accuracy was in the top 90th percentile.
8. Will Sleep Monitor generate random data?
Sleep Monitor will not generate random data, it only generates real-time tracking data. As you may know, Sleep Monitor measures your body movements and noise levels and use its own algorithm to draw sleep graphs with the help of microphone and accelerometer on your phone. We will apply new high-technology to adjust the algorithm to generate more accurate data.
9. Is Sleep Monitor app safe?
Yes, of course. We care about data privacy. There is no user system in Sleep Monitor currently. Your sleep data will be saved on your own device. Sleep Monitor will NEVER expose your personal sleep recordings under any circumstances.

17. What is the Smart Alarm mode? How to turn it on?
Through the artificial intelligence algorithm, Sleep Monitor will look for the lightest stage of sleep between the wake-up phases you set, and will sound the alarm at this time to gently wake you up and make you wake up more easily and feel less tired. How to turn it on? Open Sleep Monitor app > More > Alarm Settings >+ > Wake up phase (enable).
18. How to fix the error: "Sleep tracking is intermittent and part of the data was lost. Still show sleep report?" or no report generated after waking up?
This error may occur in several situations:
1).This issue usually happens when the Android system randomly kills apps running in the background to save the battery. When Sleep Monitor is killed, sleep tracking will be interrupted so there will be no sleep report generated. To prevent this issue from occurring again, please always keep app running in the foreground(don't quit it in the background after start tracking)and remove Sleep Monitor from battery optimization list: Go to phone Settings > Apps > Sleep Monitor > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization> Not optimized.
2).This issue may happen when phone RAM is not enough. There will be no space for our app to keep running or save your report. Please make sure there is enough space to save sleep records.
19. How to fix the error: "Sleep Monitor detected unusual sleeping behavior, no record has been generated."?
Users will receive this message when the tracking time is over 24 hours. App will judge this long time sleeping as abnormal behavior so no records will be generated. So, please try tracking within 24 hours.
20. Error: Why alarm is not working? Why alarm didn't go off?
Firstly, Both the Alarm and Sleep Reminder features need notification permission to work properly. Please grant notification permission for Sleep Monitor first: Tap Phone Settings > Notification > Sleep Monitor> Allow Notification Secondly, make sure app will be killed by system. 2). Tracking heart rate with Google Fit while you track sleep with Sleep Monitor
22. What is Sleep Monitor's scoring matrix? How does Sleep Monitor rate a good sleep?
Sleep Monitor has its own sleep scoring algorithms which taking many factors into account, such as the whole sleep duration, deep sleep ratio, personal feeling in the morning, and the physical conditions. Referring to specialists'advice, we adjust the weights of each factor to make the score more accurate and more consistent with that from professional equipment monitoring like PSG (Polysomnography). A high score reflects you get a good sleep with long sleep duration and deeper sleep, vice versa.

We suggest you sleep alone to eliminate any interference from others on your sleep reports. Sleep Monitor cannot distinguish the source of the collected sounds and movements currently.
